Gekko Systems was approached by Alliance Mineral Assets Limited to employ our patented InLine Pressure Jig (IPJ) technology in an 8 tph pilot plant to evaluate the amenability of gravity recovery of liberated tantalite from their lithium-bearing spodumene concentrate product. The overall focus was on tantalite recovery. Entrained tantalite in the final spodumene product containing on average 450ppm Ta2O5 was not being recovered from the main dense media separation plant in the +1mm size fraction.
Gekko Systems successfully employed the IPJ in the 8 tph pilot plant to recover tantalite from Alliance Mineral Assets Limited’s spodumene concentrate product. The results, as outlined in a recently released case study, showed the potential to create an additional revenue stream for Alliance Mineral Assets Limited through tantalite recovery.
A full design was completed to integrate Gekko Systems’ proposed plant with the existing DMS plant for a final high-grade tantalite product, however, at that time Bald Hill entered care and maintenance before it could be implemented.
