In late 2021, Gekko Systems signed a contract with Group 6 Metals (G6M) for the redevelopment of the Dolphin Mine on King Island, Tasmania. The contract involved the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the tungsten recovery processing plant. It is great to see the plant’s construction nearing completion, a testament to the hard work of both the Gekko and G6M teams.
G6M announced the exciting news this week as they shared the achievement of producing the first batch of tungsten concentrate at the Dolphin Tungsten Mine. Tungsten is a critical mineral widely utilised in various industries such as steelmaking, mining, construction, electronics, and defence.
With this milestone reached, the site team will now shift their focus towards finalising the remaining commissioning activities and conducting performance testing. This phase aims to increase the plant’s throughput, fine-tune its performance, and optimise concentrate grade and recovery.
