Case Study - Ciénega

Fresnillo PLC operates the Ciénega mine which is located approximately 200km NW from the city of Durango, Mexico. In 2011 the site underwent a mill expansion, part of their expansion was to expand the gravity gold circuit and increase the overall recovery of gold. The purchase of Gekko’s Batch InLine Leach Reactor (ILR150BA) has enabled Ciénega to achieve consistently high recoveries of gold, >98%, from their batch centrifugal concentrators. The Ciénega ILR is Gekko’s first ILR installation into Mexico. Download File

Technical Paper 048 - Coarse Gold Separation At Bendigo Minings Kangaroo Flat Operation

Bendigo Mining operates a 600,000 tpa comminution, gravity, flotation and leaching processing plant for the recovery of gold from their Kangaroo Flat Operation, in the Bendigo goldfields. The free gold and gold bearing sulphides present are typically coarse grained, and hence are highly amenable to gravity recovery. Download File

Technical Paper 047 - Is The Python Right For Me Python Amenability Test Work

Gekko Systems Pty Ltd have developed the Python Underground Processing Plant for the concentration of gold and sulfide ores. The Python plant has an established flowsheet including fine crushing, screening, gravity separation and flotation which aims to concentrate the valuable minerals (gold/sulfides). Download File

Technical Paper 046 - The Role Of Gravity And Intensive Cyanidation In Processing Preg Robbing Gold Ores

A flowsheet has been developed to treat a high tonnage highly preg-robbing gold ore. The ore is lowgrade and fine grained with a high proportion of very fine free gold. The key components of the flowsheet include gravity, flotation, intensive cyanidation with direct electrowinning, and carbon-in-leach of the flotation concentrate. Download File

Technical Paper 045 - Python Underground Processing Plant Critcal Design

The use of continuous gravity recovery in combination with a controlled breakage fine crushing and screening system followed by flash flotation has been incorporated into the Python processing plant. This provides miners with a flexible, robust, low cost, low energy pre-concentration process for the recovery of gold and/or heavy minerals. Download File

ILR Footprint Grows to 90 Installations

Demand for the InLine Leach Reactor (ILR) has continued to show strong growth with 90 units being sold since the first commercial installation in 1999. Incredibly, even the prototype unit remains in operation at Bendigo’s Henty operation in Tasmania, Australia. Download File

New Plant at Three Mile Hill

Gekko Systems and Como Engineering are pleased to report that the gravity recovery plant at Focus Minerals’ Three Mile Hill Mine in Western Australia has been successfully commissioned. The plant consists of a Falcon 1350 Concentrator and a Gekko InLine... Download File

10 tph Modular Plant for Morning Star Gold

In early 2010, Gekko Systems was contracted to design and manufacture a 10 ton-per-hour pre-concentration modular gold plant for Morning Star Gold to install at its exciting Woods Point Gold Project, located in Victoria’s historic eastern goldfields and 120 kilometres north east of Melbourne (Australia). Gold Fields Invests in Python Technology

The Gold Fields metallurgical team has placed an order for a number of Gekko’s innovative processing systems with a view to achieving high gold extraction rates from existing surface dumps at Kloof Mine. The Kloof Growth Project is designed to achieve economic outcomes as well as pilot improved processes... Download File

Directors Require More Data on Comminution

“The education of company directors is essential to assist in the acceleration of new comminution strategies for the mining industry” said Elizabeth Lewis-Gray, Managing Director of Gekko Systems. “Many senior people in the industry, especially those without a technical background, are unaware of the significant impact of different grinding and crushing strategies on carbon footprint and operating costs.” Download File
